Building Self-Esteem
Self-esteem refers to how we perceive and value ourselves. Self-esteem can be influenced by many factors, such as, social pressures, academic performance, physical changes, and social media. Low self-esteem might manifest as negative self-talk, withdrawal from activities, and feelings of inadequacy. When teens and young adults are struggling with low self-esteem, they may spend an excessive amount of time on social media platforms, constantly compare themselves to others, or even appear withdrawn and quiet in social scenarios where they once shined.
Building healthy self-esteem is crucial for overall mental health. At Inner Balance Therapy, we help by offering a supportive environment where our clients can explore their feelings and identify the root causes of their low self-esteem. We work with individuals to develop a positive self-image, set and achieve goals, and recognize their strengths and abilities. Through therapy, our clients learn to appreciate themselves, build confidence, and lead more fulfilling lives.
Journaling is a wonderful coping strategy to help individuals who struggle with self-esteem by providing a safe space for self-expression, allowing them to reflect on their thoughts and achievements, providing clarity about their emotions, and helping them to develop a stronger sense of self-awareness and confidence.
