FAQs

  • If you're wondering whether you need to go to therapy, consider whether you're experiencing any of the following:

    • Persistent Feelings: If you often feel overwhelmed, anxious, sad, or just not like yourself, therapy can help you understand and manage these emotions.

    • Stress and Pressure: If school, relationships, or other aspects of your life are causing you significant stress, a therapist can provide support and coping strategies.

    • Behavior Changes: If you've noticed changes in your behavior, such as withdrawing from friends, changes in sleep or eating habits, or difficulty concentrating, it might be helpful to talk to a therapist.

    • Coping with Challenges: If you're dealing with difficult situations like family issues, bullying, or major life changes, therapy can offer a safe space to talk and find ways to cope.

    • Seeking Personal Growth: Even if you're not in crisis, therapy can be a great way to learn more about yourself, set goals, and develop healthier habits.

Remember, there's no problem too big or too small for therapy. If you're curious or unsure, scheduling a consultation can help you decide if it's right for you

  • In the beginning stages of therapy, Madeline will focus on getting to know who you are as a person, your history, and what brings you to therapy. Together we will set goals that will allow you to become the best version of yourself. In a typical therapy session, you’ll discuss what’s on your mind in a safe, confidential space. The session will start off with Madeline checking in to see how your week went and see if there is a topic that would like to discuss today. From there, Madeline will use a variety of personalized techniques to address whatever is on your mind that week. Some sessions might focus on a pressing problem, such as an argument you had with your best friend, and some sessions might focus on broader topics such as strategies for managing social anxiety.

  • A therapy session will last 50-55 minutes.

  • No need to prepare for a session! Some clients find it helpful throughout the week to write down any thoughts or situations that you would like to discuss with your therapist during your session so you don’t forget.

  • Yes! Everything discussed during therapy sessions is kept confidential. However, there are certain exceptions where a therapist must break confidentiality. If you express intentions to harm yourself or someone else, or if you reveal that you are at risk of or currently experiencing abuse, I must inform your parents to ensure your safety and well-being.
